V045: Pattern Formation in Bioconvection of Thiovulum in a Hele-Shaw Chamber

We study the bioconvection of a colony of Thiovulum bacteria in a Hele-Shaw chamber. Starting from a homogeneous distribution, these bacteria spontaneously develop striking patterns in a form of plumes. In addition, they exhibit active convection-like dynamics.
