A sphere is suspended as a pendulum and is placed in water flow. The flow around the sphere is visualized using hydrogen bubbles. A second, identical sphere, also mounted as a pendulum, is released and impacts the static sphere. After the collision, a vortex ring that was initially formed in the wake of the released sphere envelops and surpasses the sphere and merges with the wake of the initially static sphere that leaves the frame.
