Kolmogorov flow is a simplified fluid dynamics model used to study turbulence. It involves a fluid layer driven by a sinusoidal force, which pushes fluid in different directions. The key idea is that a periodic force injects energy at large scales which then cascades down to smaller scales. Despite its simplicity, this setup can lead to complex, chaotic behavior, making it a valuable tool for understanding the development of turbulence.
