Supersonic jets exhibit a range of unsteady spatial and temporal scales. When these jets undergo non-ideal expansion through a nozzle, they tend to generate distinct tonal noise known as 'screech,' which coupled with the jet oscillation. In this video, we showcase Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of two such unsteady jets, each characterized by different temporal scales. The visualization includes the axial oscillations of the jet and the evolution of large-scale unsteady flow structures when the jet impinges on both flat and concave wall configurations.
