Magnetite nanoparticles and surfactant molecules self-organise in magnetic soap films to form solid structures. A magnetic field can be used to drive the motion of these structures throughout the film, which affects the rate of film thinning and the film lifetime. Ultimately, this could lead to the development of new applications that rely on a precise control of film lifetime.
