Droplet combustion is an essential fundamental component of spray combustion applications. Hence, the fundamental investigation gives insights into the local phenomena. In the current video, the interaction of the wire-explosion-generated blastwave and the associated flow structures with the droplet flame is investigated. A burning Dodecane droplet is placed in pendant mode in the path of the blastwave during experiments.
This gives insights into the local blowout and extinction criteria in droplet combustion when imposed with extreme flows like shockwaves and compressible vortices.
