P0004: Scale-to-scale energy transfers in the atmospheric boundary layer

In this poster, beautiful horizontal slices of inter-scale energy transfer and viscous dissipation at dissipative scales in the outer layer of a stably stratified atmospheric boundary layer is shown.

The background picture shows a closeup look of viscous dissipation at y+ = 170. The top and middle panels show both energy transfer and viscous dissipation at two heights y+ = 100 and y+ = 170, both of which take large values where coherent structures are known to exist i.e., within the turbulent regions of the flow. The last panel shows vorticity magnitude for the full simulation domain.
