V0083: Skin deep: visualization of tattoo injection

Near one-third of Americans have a tattoo, and the tattooing process is now being explored as a means of delivering drugs to the skin. However, the mechanisms of depositing (i.e., how the ink or drugs actually get into the skin tissue) are poorly understood. We have used high-speed imaging to visualize the tattooing to reveal some fundamental insights to help us better understand the process.
