Flow boiling is a powerful solution for high heat dissipation requirement and is used in various applications. The present work is an attempt to understand the flow dynamic and thermal response during growth and detachment of a single vapor bubble in a vertical rectangular channel with upward flow. A non-intrusive optical technique namely rainbow schlieren deflectometry have been employed for the simultaneous mapping of bubble dynamics and thermal gradient during the experiment. Real-time mapping of thermal gradients during the process of bubble inception, its growth, departure and lift-off have been qualitatively interpreted in the video.
