The water entry of a sphere has a considerable impact force. By manipulating the fluid in front of the sphere one can greatly reduce the impact force. We explore three types of force reduction in this video: a sphere in a jet, a sphere following a smaller sphere, and a sphere impinging on a worthington jet.
