V0063: Staying dry like a butterfly: Countering wetting with flexibility

Flexible materials are common in life and technology; however, their impact on wetting dynamics is not yet well understood. We found that substrate flexibility can be made to work collaboratively with surface nanotexture to enhance superhydrophobicity. We exemplify this discovery in this video with butterfly wings.
