Arterial murmurs are sounds generated from the stenosed (obstructed) arteries, and these sounds can oftentimes be detected via a stethoscope. In this video, we visualize the generation and propagation of these murmurs from data generated by a computational model. The blood flow through the stenosed artery is simulated by solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the acoustic wave propagation in the surrounding "tissue" is computed by a high-order finite difference method.
