Shock-accelerated inhomogeneous flows(SAIF) appear in natural and engineered environments such as the interstellar medium amd inertial confinement fusion devices. A pair of free falling bubbles accelerated by a planar shock wave repressent a simple SAIF to be studied numerically and in the laboratory. The main post shock events are bubble compression, bubble deformation and formation of vortex ring.
