This video shows the chaotic behavior of a microfluidic jet while a solvent is being extracted from the jet to the surrounding. Such behavior is demonstrated for two different ternary systems. For each system, the jet contains a mixture of a solvent and one other component, while the surrounding fluid is the third component. In the video a combination of quasi-chaotic flow patterns and phase separation (in the form of droplet formation) can be observed.
