Soap bubbles appear everywhere in daily life yet we still don't quite fully understand them. Hence, in a bid to find out more about how they rupture, we observed mysterious rune-like patterns on the bubble film which evolve and sometimes coarsen. In classifying these patterns, we inadvertently pose the more fundamental question, what is a bubble?
