The flow fields resulting from shear instabilities due to mass transfer of a interfacial depressing fluid, are unique and promote mass transfer process in itself.  The insights into this coupled process can be achieved using monitoring concentration and velocities simultaneously.  We present a video documenting simulaneous measurement of velocity and concentration using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Planar Laser Induced Flourescence (PLIF).  The system we have selected is inherently transient with a liquid drop of tolouene and acetone (interfacial tension depressant) containing a tracer dye (Rhodamine 6G) moving up in quiescent glycerol.  Deeper understanding of fluid mechanics of this process is critical in liquid liquid extraction systems in various chemical processes, and have great industrial relevance.
